BAE BAE drop gauze, six tracks of clipped electronics

BAE BAE released gauze on July 24 via Planet Mu. The EP runs six tracks, a compact set.

The label copy stresses the record's bare textures, spare beats, and a certain cold clarity. Planet Mu has long been a home for this kind of angled, dance-floor-adjacent electronics, and gauze sits inside that lineage without copying it. BAE BAE's takes are sliced thin, with space left for the click of the drum and the bass to sit low and visible.

gauze feels performed, cut sudden and left to cool. Nothing about it pushes for a reaction; the pieces keep their distance, and what lands does so because it has to. That's enough to make the EP worth the forty minutes, or however close the listen runs.
