Dead Man's Bones announce first new music in 17 years

Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields will release new music October 27, timed to Halloween, their first since the self-titled debut on ANTI-.

Dead Man's Bones, the duo of Ryan Gosling and musician Zach Shields, announced their first new music in 17 years, due October 27 just in time for Halloween. The band shared the news in a social media video that label ANTI- posted as well. No format, title or tracklisting has been announced.

The pair formed between 2007's Lars And The Real Girl and 2010's Blue Valentine. Their self-titled debut, released by ANTI- in 2009, was recorded with the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir, and they played a small run of dates around Halloween that year. Eva Mendes put the teaser on Instagram with the caption "He came through on his promise to me."

The sign was forming before the video: stylists tracking the band had already flagged Mark Avery posting about "Dead Man's Bones on Halloween." In 2023, promoting Barbie, Gosling addressed a revival plainly enough. "Maybe. Never say never?" That was answered this week.

Everything so far rests on the Halloween drop. Nothing beyond the October 27 release has been announced.
