Eminem defends Kid Rock Christian album verse: "not about choosing sides"

Eminem has defended his guest spot on Kid Rock's new Christian album Halfway 2 Jesus, saying on October 17 that he was choosing a friend over a fight. The verse is on a track called "Heal My Faith," where Eminem runs through his history with Kid Rock and hopes the pair's friendship pushes others to drop their differences.

He put the defense in a line of his own: "Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us." On the song he raps that Kid Rock is "my brother, not my political enemy" and that "Liberal and evangelical can agree."

Kid Rock wrote a foreword for the album praising the guests, Eminem first among them. In it he said the two differ politically and on other things but have stayed friends through it all, and that they hope the example reaches people who have stopped talking to family over politics.

Halfway 2 Jesus is out now.
