Frances Chang releases third solo album 'Been Thinking Bout Confession'
The former Giant Peach member trades art punk for close-mic'd confession on a record written at a 100-year-old piano.
BY JOLT Staff · Aug 24 2026 · 1 min readFrances Chang released her third solo album, Been Thinking Bout Confession, on August 24. The record follows her run in art punk outfit Giant Peach but swaps that band's noise for close-mic'd vocals and lyrics that feel like overheard thoughts. Lines like "I wondered what you really thought" and "I thought I saw the back of your head / I prayed it wasn't you" cut through with the intimacy of a diary left open.
The album was written on a 100-year-old baby grand piano, and it shows. It's a record built on waiting: moments of silence, malfunctioning instruments, songs like "Midnight in the garden" that break apart into composite parts. On "Bad zen," stutter-y electronic percussion tangles things further.
Been Thinking Bout Confession is out now on vinyl and CD. Nothing else is announced.
