Grouper's Liz Harris lines up two short-film scores on Kranky

Music for Two Films About Water collects scores for aquatic shorts by Tanja Engelberts and Takashi Makino, with one track streaming now.

Liz Harris, the Portland artist who records as Grouper, will release Music for Two Films About Water via Kranky on November 27. The record collects scores for two shorts: We Exhale, by Tanja Engelberts, and Constellation, by Takashi Makino.

One piece is already out. "Untitled (from Constellation)" runs 21 minutes, a stand-alone listen ahead of a release that otherwise holds just two tracks. The tracklist is "Untitled (from We Exhale)" and "Untitled (from Constellation)", which puts the whole record's weight in pieces nearly long enough to fill a side each.

The timing is busy for Harris. Helen, her shoegaze trio, returned last week with Linda's Head after 11 years away. Music for Two Films About Water is her first record under her own name.

The Constellation score is streaming now, and the full record arrives via Kranky on November 27.
