BY JOLT Staff · Oct 14 2026 · 1 min readGwenifer Raymond has signed to Fat Possum and released a new single, 'Bird Songs for Atomic Skies'. The Wales-born, Brighton-based guitarist announced it on October 14, both the signing and the track arriving together.
Raymond calls it 'a mutant rag, a blues gone awry'. Her note describes lyrebirds in irradiated nests growing new heads, foxes barking wrong, the whole assembly 'run through the wringer of an atomic age'. Her third album, 'Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark', came out in September 2025 via We Are Busy Bodies and was nominated for the 2026 Welsh Music Prize.
Live dates follow quickly. She supports Geese across America and Canada, then headlines a UK run with European shows in France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Spain and Portugal, running October 15 to December 15, plus a January 14 date. She also appears with The Tallest Man On Earth and supports Mitski at the Royal Albert Hall.
