Helen return with Linda's Head, their first album in eleven years

The trio of Liz Harris, Scott Simmons and Jed Bindeman follow 2015's The Original Faces with ten short shoegaze songs.

Helen have released their second album, Linda's Head. The trio of Liz Harris, best known for Grouper, Scott Simmons and Jed Bindeman put it out on Kranky, and Apple's store lists the release date as October 2. It arrives eleven years after their debut, The Original Faces.

That debut, from 2015, was preceded by the double A-side single "Felt This Way" / "Dying All The Time" in 2013. Long before any of it, per the press release for The Original Faces, the band "originally started with the intention of being a thrash band." What the records actually do is something else: short, shoegaze songs packed into a tight frame.

Linda's Head holds ten of them, Harris singing over Simmons and Bindeman rather than disappearing into her solo project's fog. Tracks include "Starline," "Dead shark II," "Darkblue," "Stay With Me" and the title cut. The vinyl LP and CD are both available now. No tour dates are announced.
