Jeff Mills releases Knockdown Center set recorded in Spatial Audio

Jeff Mills has released a recording of his March set at New York's Knockdown Center, where he played all-vinyl. The set is split into two parts. Part one is streaming now on Apple Music, next to a Ken Ishii mix from the same party. Part two lands 9 October with a recording of Joey Beltram's set that night.

Apple Music recorded it in Spatial Audio using 14 microphones placed around the venue. The room as it sounded, not a clean board mix. Mills puts it plainly. "It's a live recording. It's not just music. It's the ambiance of the room. The people. The wild animals are a part of it."

The show came from his tour behind last year's 30th anniversary reissue of Live At The Liquid Room, Tokyo. The recording carries his own 'The Bells', 'Alarms', 'Utopia' and 'Life Cycle', plus Surgeon, DJ Funk and Richie Hawtin's F.U.S.E.

Mills released his latest album, The Trip To Vega, earlier this year on his own Axis Records.
