Johnny Marr takes The Age Of Everything to Transmissions

The Smiths co-founder talks his new album, the band's global reach, and the Black American musicians who shaped his playing.

BY JOLT Staff · Sep 30 2026 · 1 min read

Johnny Marr is the guest on this week's Transmissions, the episode published September 30, 2026, talking through his new album The Age Of Everything. The record is out October 2 on Apple and Spotify, per the artist's own pages.

The conversation runs wide. Marr covers the global influence of The Smiths, the Black American musicians who shaped his sound, and influences further from the obvious, Neil Young among them.

It is the usual oblique entry point for a player whose guitar lines did as much as any lyric to define British indie. The timing puts him back in front of a record rather than a legacy act.

Nothing else about the album, its label, or any tour dates is announced yet.
