BY JOLT Staff · Oct 14 2026 · 1 min readJon Hassell's final album is out. Music Is Invisible (Pentimento Volume Three) was edited and mixed by Jeff Rona from recordings of Hassell's last concert, played in 2015 at St John at Hackney with Rick Cox and John von Seggern. Catalogue listings give it a release date of October 2, 2026.
It closes the Pentimento trilogy, which opened with Listening to Pictures in 2018 and continued with Seeing Through Sound in 2020. All three arrived under Hassell's own catalogues: his site, his Bandcamp, his Spotify.
Hassell died on June 26, 2021. He studied under Stockhausen and Pandit Pran Nath, and built the idea he called Fourth World music, a chord that still holds across ambient, jazz and the experimental margins. Rona's edit carries a 2015 room into a 2026 release. That gap is the record's whole context.
