KILOBAUUD releases 'Yakamein,' a club record named after New Orleans fusion food

New Orleans artist KILOBAUUD has released 'Yakamein,' a clubby, hard, aggressive album built on 808s and rare-bounce-sample-driven swamptech. The record, out August 28, is named after a New Orleanian-Vietnamese fusion food, a nod to the city's melting pot.

KILOBAUUD, formerly Lil Jodeci, describes the album as 'gumbo' and says it's 'all textures of what I grew up listening to, techno and Baltimore club and Jersey club and New Orleans bounce.' He intentionally wants listeners to feel it in their core and to move out trauma on the dancefloor.

The artist co-runs Set De Flo nights with Vick Trochez to highlight Black artists in house music, especially in a city where clubs often lean toward white audiences. His motto is 'DIY till you die,' and he wants to export Southern club music globally.

KILOBAUUD says he is starting to tour more often to bring his sound beyond New Orleans.
