BY JOLT Staff · Oct 16 2026 · 1 min readMother of Graves released their third album, The Light That Keeps Us, on October 16. It is the Indianapolis five-piece's second record for Profound Lore, following the label debut that raised their profile outside the Midwest. The album runs 45 minutes.
The band formed around 2019 and has built a following on a strain of death-doom that refuses to sit still. This record leans on melodeath in "Eventide Angel", folk in "A Moonlit Tryst", post-metal in "The Beggar's Allegory" and straightforward heavy music on the title track, per the label's outline of the tracklist.
Dan Swanö appears from behind the mastering console as a guest, contributing clean vocals on opener "Wingless Soul". The lineup is Chris Morrison and Ben Sandman on guitar, Don Curtis on drums, Corey Clark on bass and Brandon Howe on vocals and lyrics. The record is out now.
