My Wonderful Boyfriend sign to New West and drop "Chip City"
The Brooklyn indie trio's first single for New West is out now, with a Godfrey Nares video and a line from singer PJ McCormick about a drunk romantic losing the plot.
BY JOLT Staff · Oct 22 2026 · 1 min readMy Wonderful Boyfriend released "Chip City" on October 21, their first single for New West Records and their first new music since the one-off "I'm Your Man" last year. The Brooklyn trio put out debut EP An Evening With... after landing on a 2024 list of the year's best new bands before they had a record out. The new deal and the new song arrive together.
The song runs on early Modest Mouse, scraggly and creaky, and it comes with a video directed by Godfrey Nares. PJ McCormick's own reading of it is a love song from a guy a little drunker than he thinks he is, all his eggs in one basket, no right words. The outro is where he sobers up enough to see it.
For now New West gets one track: the single is out and the video is live, and the band is marking the signing with the release.
