Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan share an Expectations remix, with David Byrne as a game show host

Olivia Rodrigo released a remix of "Expectations" featuring Chappell Roan on October 16, per the single's listings and starstruck twitter. The track replaces the original's second verse with a new Roan verse, and Roan also digs into the hook and adds ad-libs on the ending.

Bardia Zeinali directed the video that arrived with it, a gameshow sketch with David Byrne as host Johnny Johnson, presiding over rounds modeled on The Dating Game and Family Feud with Rodrigo and Roan appearing as multiple characters. Dan Nigro turns up doing backup vocals; Venus Twins, LoveLeo and drag artist Aquaria also appear.

Both singers needed the shine of new music to be notable right now. It is a new chapter for them: for ROAN, it continues a moment she has built carefully by dreading paparazzo panic as timekeeping devices that keep performing as items you'd better hide for from ad revenue.

Rodrigo and Roan they did one interview form of media about the source song enough: turned and no others confirmed.
