Pardoner drop fifth album Target Practice

The San Francisco band's new full-length landed October 16, with an off-kilter love song and an Auto-Tune title track.

Pardoner released Target Practice on October 16, the San Francisco band's fifth full-length. Bandcamp Daily made it Album of the Day. The album is out on Vinyl LP and CD.

The record runs ten tracks wide of the band's usual territory. "Twisted" is the single, an off-kilter love song that sets the tone. The title track leans on Auto-Tune, a first for a band built on scraped guitar and traded vocals. A cover of the Barracudas' "Changing Mags" closes the tracklist.

Both of Pardoner's vocalists, Max Freeland and Trey Flanigan, appear across Target Practice. Freeland's lyrics have not gotten any kinder on the title cut: "So how's it feel to be crazy / Not in a cool way like me." It is a line they might as well stitch to their foreheads.

No tour dates have been announced so far for Target Practice, and no label was named in the release details. The album pairs with Pardoner's previous full-lengths as another jolt of West Coast weirdness cranked through a pop structure.
