Shabaam Sahdeeq on Rawkus-era roots, painting, and his new album

Sahdeeq credits park jams, graffiti, and late-night radio shows like Mr Magic's Rap Attack and DJ Red Alert's Saturday Night Master Mix Dance Party. "What inspired me were other dope MCs, and just raw expressions," he says. He also cites local emcees in Brooklyn and Jersey City as early encouragement.
Sahdeeq has evolved his writing by slowing down, reading, and traveling, focusing on detail and emotion over quick studio displays. His track 'Show & Prove,' featuring Bad Seed and produced by Castle money beats, is out now; 'Outside the Lines' is available for pre-order.
