Tanner York signs to Merge and reissues Welcome to the Shower

Tanner York has signed to Merge Records. The North Carolina power pop artist announced the deal on 29 September 2026 alongside a reissue of his debut album Welcome to the Shower and a new single, "Dumbest Person Alive."

Welcome to the Shower first came out last year. The reissue lands on 26 February 2027 on CD and a limited-edition opaque "Baby Bloo" Peak Vinyl, with "Dumbest Person Alive" added to the tracklist. Merge did not say how many copies of the vinyl run will be pressed.

In a note about the record, York framed it as a product of small rooms and smaller budgets. "Most of the music I was listening to at the time was home-recorded in a very obvious and proud way," he said. "I loved the idea of basking in the limitations, and I became infatuated with small-sounding music."

The reissue is out 26 February 2027. More pressing details and a full tracklist are not yet announced.
