BY JOLT Staff · Oct 8 2026 · 1 min readThe Comet Is Coming are marking the tenth anniversary of their debut album Channel The Spirits with an expanded reissue. Exploding In Slow Motion: The Complete Channel The Spirits Recordings 2013-2017CE arrives 20 November 2026 on Leaf.
The set carries the full debut, nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2016, alongside the band's two EPs from the period, Prophecy and Death To The Planet. Four previously unreleased recordings are added. One of them, 'Late Night Party Jam 2', was cut at London's Total Refreshment Centre, the room Shabaka name-checks when he calls the record 'a snapshot of a particular energy in London at that time', one that 'takes me to warehouse parties and soundsystems and nights at [Total Refreshment Centre] with near 400 people in a room that would be sweaty with 50'.
The band split in 2023 after four studio albums. Shabaka has since released two solo LPs, Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace in 2024 and Of The Earth this year.
Nothing else from the reissue is announced beyond the 20 November date.
