BY JOLT Staff · Oct 1 2026 · 1 min readTV Buddha released Hallelujah Anyway on ever/never records. The album came out September 30 and ships on vinyl LP and CD. Apple lists a release of October 2, which the band has not addressed.
The band plays out of the Chicago youth DIY scene, the same loose pocket of the city that has been producing guitar records for the past few years. Hallelujah Anyway carries that forward: musicians from Horsegirl and Sharp Pins turn up lending instruments and backing vocals, and singer Johnson Rockstar sings on it. Rockstar's one line in the material around the album is flat and certain: "I'm living on the land of the lord."
Tracks include "More Than Yesterday, Less Than Tomorrow," and the record's cast of characters runs through Eleanor, Madeline, and Alfred. Dusty Henry wrote the Bandcamp Daily Album of the Day review, which is where those names come from.
For now the release is the whole story: the album, the guests, and the players named on it.
