Victoryland sign to Dead Oceans, plan deluxe debut

Victoryland have joined the Dead Oceans roster. The partnership of singer-songwriter Julian McCamman, formerly of Blood, and producer Dan Howard, announced the signing alongside a deluxe edition of their debut album, My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It. It is out 12/11 on Dead Oceans, with pre-order open now.

The deluxe release appends one new track, "The Ugliest Girl On The Beach." McCamman describes the song in stark terms: "Sinking into the hot sand and watching the two blue lovers trying to kiss, forever caught in their parallel hell, I refused the barrier between me and nature." He adds, "I'm still there, still trying for the answer: who am I when I'm alone?" The song is post-Cure alternative rock: brisk, melodic, melancholic underneath.

The original album earned Album Of The Week honors last winter, backed by a number of streaming and catalogue entries that confirmed the release. The deluxe version has no second disc or live set, just the one new song. It lands 12/11.
