PRIVACY POLICY

Your data. Short version first.

We keep what you give us, we sell nothing, and one email deletes it. The long version follows.

Who we are

JOLT (joltmagazine.com) is the site and the data controller.

One address for anything about your data: privacy@joltmagazine.com.

What we collect

Newsletter: first name, last name, email — because you typed them in.

Contact: whatever your email to us contains. We don’t ask for more.

Play or Skip and preferences (theme, tutorial, your picks): stored on your device, never sent to us.

Audience measurement: how many people read what, counted without writing anything to your device. A visit is a hash of the request that our host discards after 24 hours; we only ever see totals.

Google Analytics: the same kind of numbers in more detail, and only if you accepted it in the banner. It writes a cookie, which is why it has to ask.

Why we process it

Consent — the newsletter and Google Analytics. You can pull it anytime.

Legitimate interest — keeping the site up, safe and readable, and knowing how many people read it. Cookieless audience measurement is aggregate, first-party and never linked to you; you can object at privacy@joltmagazine.com.

Legal obligation — where the law leaves no choice.

Where it goes

Nothing is sold. Ever.

Processors that make the site work see the minimum: Vercel (hosting, and the cookieless audience measurement that comes with it), Resend (newsletter delivery), and Google Analytics — that last one only for readers who accepted it.

Player embeds — Spotify, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Apple previews — load from their servers under their own policies once they appear on your screen.

How long we keep it

Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe — one click, in every email.

Contact email: as long as the conversation is live.

Audience measurement: the visit hash lives 24 hours, the totals stay aggregate. Our reporting window is one month.

Google Analytics: two years, on the devices of readers who accepted it.

Your rights (GDPR)

Access, copy, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection — and withdrawing consent, anytime, without a reason.

Email privacy@joltmagazine.com and you’ll hear back within 30 days.

Not satisfied? You can complain to your supervisory authority (in Italy: the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

YouTube

Our publishing tools use YouTube API Services to upload JOLT’s own videos to JOLT’s own channel. They access no data about you: no viewer information, no subscriber lists, nothing beyond our own uploads.

Videos embedded on this site load from YouTube under Google’s own terms. By using pages with YouTube content you are also agreeing to the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).

Any Google permissions you ever grant can be reviewed and revoked at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.

Transfers

We host in the EU where possible. Where a processor sits elsewhere, standard contractual clauses cover the transfer.

Changes

We update the date below when this policy changes. If the change matters, we say so in the newsletter.

Cookies have their own page: Cookie Policy.
