03 Greedo: half an hour, no fat

Last Night Out is ten songs and half an hour, and 03 Greedo does not pad it. The record stays in its lane, keeps moving and gets out, which for an artist with this much catalogue behind him is deliberate.

The catalogue explains the choice. Jason Jamal Jackson started out self-producing mixtapes as Greedy Giddy, put out Purple Summer in 2016, signed to Alamo Records in 2017, and released The Wolf of Grape Street in March 2018, weeks before he was sentenced to twenty years on drug trafficking and firearm charges. He went in that June and came home on January 12, 2023, with Halfway There out seven days later. Hella Greedy arrived in 2024, Another Night Out in 2025. The run since his release has been steady and long. This is the first time he has cut one down to size.

Last Night Out arrives on Alamo Records with Sony behind it, dated September 2, 2026, ten songs and thirty minutes, the third of his night-out titles after the 2017 First Night Out mixtape and 2025's Another Night Out. It is the shortest of them, and it carries four guests across three tracks. What it wants is plain from the runtime: to make the case in one sitting.

The sound is West Coast rap in his own accent, melodic and loose at the edges, with a voice that does not sound like anyone else in the room. Ty Dolla $ign joins 'If I, Pt. 3', the first return to that song in nine years, and gives Greedo's earnest questioning a soft surface to land on without answering any of it. '2 Seater', with Desto Dubb, is the smoothest cut here: wants and boasts sliding together until separating them stops seeming worth the effort.

'BTA' brings Wallie The Sensei and Kalan.FrFr in for hedonistic mischief, a track built for a room, not headphones. The two songs with no guests at all are the strongest: 'White Lies' is an accusation delivered at conversational volume, 'Fine China' is exultation, and on both he floats over the beat instead of pushing against it.

'Cougar' ends the record in sexy drill, a lane he has barely visited, and it holds: raunchy, faintly absurd, oddly anthemic by the time it stops. As closing arguments go it is a shrug and a wink, which suits him.

This one is for people who came in with Halfway There or Hella Greedy and want the same instinct with less running time, and for anyone who treats thirty minutes as a feature rather than a warning. It is not for the people who want the long, loose Greedo of the mixtape years. He is not here in that form, and they will notice.

What does not work is the guest list. '2 Seater' and 'BTA' hand verses to voices that do not do anything he cannot, and the personality that makes him worth the listen thins out whenever he steps back from the mic. His delivery, unmistakable and sometimes inscrutable, means a few of the flexes register more as sound than sense, and on a record this short there is no room to circle back and pick up what you missed.

Three and a half. Last Night Out is the tightest thing he has released since he came home, and the two tracks where he is alone are the best case he has made for himself in a while.
