Josh Baker and rhys from the sticks make a club ID official
Six months of club teases get a release date: 'Souvenir' pairs big-room house with a raw British vocal from rhys from the sticks.
BY JOLT Staff · OCT 4 2026 · 1 min read'Souvenir' lands with six months of club mileage already on the clock. Josh Baker has been playing it since spring, through his sets at Reading & Leeds and Creamfields, and the released version justifies the wait.
It arrives at the end of his biggest run yet: a first back-to-back-to-back with Prospa and KETTAMA, a sold-out two-night takeover of Manchester's Warehouse Project, and the closing night of his YOU&ME residency at Amnesia Ibiza, filmed for a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. The single is out on Bakers Dozen / Three Six Zero.
“burn marks on my hoodie, from your cigarette”
So the pressure on the record is real, and it holds. The production is bright and wide, built for a main stage without losing the grit that made it an ID worth chasing. rhys from the sticks, the artist formerly known as Rhys Kirkby-Cox of Everyone You Know, is why it works: a plain British voice, closer to a band than to house, carrying a line about 'burn marks on my hoodie, from your cigarette' that outlasts the drums.
That lyric explains the title. A souvenir is what you keep after the night, and the track drags punk and post-punk residue through a Madchester filter, which sets it apart from most of what moves at that tempo.
It is for people who want a vocal they can shout back at a festival, not for anyone hunting deep minimal. The cost is the runtime. At 3:03 it is built as a set tool, and at home it is gone before it settles.
For a track that spent six months as an ID, the payoff survives the trip home. It will be shouted back at tents all winter. Four.
