Liana Flores's 'And so it goes…' keeps the city move polite
Six songs about leaving the country for the city, sung in bossa, folk and jazzy pop. The whole EP fits on one side of vinyl.

"This record is the story of the country girl moving to the city," she says. "It's bossa nova meets pop, inspired by the people, relationships and glamour of city life." Flores wrote the songs, sang and played guitar, and recorded in Los Angeles with Paul Butler.
Bossa flourishes sit inside radiant folk, and the jazzy pop keeps the edges calm. The songs are built to be sung, which was Flores's stated challenge. Most stay under three minutes; "Here to stay" gets four, and the whole record fits on one side of vinyl. Eco-friendly pressings, signed copies and a seaglass green cassette complete the careful presentation.

The limit is that calm. A city move should leave at least one cut, and nothing here turns the corner. It is not a 4, because the story never gets a sharp edge. It is not a 3, because every melody earns its place. That makes it a 3.5: a warm, specific little EP that stops before the story gets loud.
