Blawan returns to the dance floor on XL EP Gi Mi Keys Back / Auto Fake

The UK producer's first XL release in over a decade lands September 25, with vinyl following November 13.

Blawan has announced Gi Mi Keys Back / Auto Fake, a two-track EP for XL Recordings, out digitally on September 25 and on 12-inch vinyl November 13.

The record nudges toward club readiness after last year's experimental SickElixir LP. The title track and 'Auto Fake' are the two cuts, and Roberts says the shift is personal: "I'm in the process of finding my feet again with my more dance floor-friendly excursions. I honestly thought I stopped enjoying making stuff for the floor as much as my more experimental bits, but one thing you learn is when you test the waters regularly you always surprise yourself."

This marks Blawan's initial XL outing after 2011, with the EP’s lead track reportedly resetting the controls stepwise from more abstract zones into tight, locked rhythms. Such a shift isn’t unprecedented: he’s regularly steered his Monnom Black imprint into dancefloor-focused energy.
