Jan St. Werner of Mouse on Mars announces solo EP Squares Will Fall
The electronic veteran returns with guests Sufjan Stevens, Justin Vernon, and others on a release with a decade-plus gestation.

Squares Will Fall is due November 13 on Thrill Jockey. The title track includes lyrics and vocals from Justin Vernon. The tracklist also features "Swamp Brains" with Rosanne Rubino and "Flötotto", which puts Sufjan Stevens on drum machine and the National's Ben Lanz on trombone and bass.
Werner first recorded a 30-minute version of the title track in 2012, for a friend's 30th birthday. In 2021 he presented it as a live performance piece at the Ural Industrial Biennial. His most recent solo LP, Space Synthesis, arrived in 2023.
