Junior Boys announce seventh album The Gore

Junior Boys have announced their seventh album. The Gore is due 12 February 2027 via City Slang and is the Ontario duo's first record in five years, following 2022's Waiting Game. Lead single "Underneath The Moon" is out now with a video.

The record is built as a companion to Waiting Game: The Gore closes on the opening chords of that album, so the two can be looped together. Jeremy Greenspan wrote it over two years after the deaths of his father and a close childhood friend, and described it as louder and fuller than its predecessor. The single drew on the 2022 Canadian horror film Skinamarink and tape loops cut through a Tascam machine. Colin Fisher, Dale Butterfield, Robin Dann and Linnea Sigglelkow also play on it.

Three listening events follow, each built around a screening of Michael Snow's Wavelength, a full playback of The Gore, original visualisers and a Q&A with Greenspan: Brooklyn on 27 January, Seattle on 30 January, Toronto on 2 March.
