Lambchop hand Demoed to MJ Lenderman and seven other singers

Lambchop have announced a new EP called Demoed, out digitally 20 November via City Slang / Merge, with a physical release following on 5 February. The first preview is MJ Lenderman's version of "Weakened", streaming now.

The premise inverts the remix. On Demoed, guest vocalists sing over the original guitar demos from Punching the Clown, Lambchop's seventeenth album, released in August and their first full-length since 2022's The Bible. Andrew Broder, a co-writer on the record, floated the idea of asking other artists to sing the demos and replace Kurt Wagner. The bill also includes Circuit des Yeux, Alan Sparhawk, Channy Leaneagh, Dan Wriggins, Lauren Auder, Flock of Dimes and More Eaze.

Wagner called it "a remix but backwards" and made the terms plain: "I used to fantasize that Lambchop would continue as an idea well beyond my participation. But I assure you, I am very much alive and all over what you hear here. Unlike cover versions of our songs, these are songs we made, I'm just not the singer."
