Mei Semones adds tabla to the mix on new single "2 Hands"

The second cut from Howl pairs Japanese and English vocals with South Asian tabla, and the video puts her band front and center.

Mei Semones released "2 Hands" on October 29, the second single from her upcoming album Howl. The track brings South Asian tabla into her sound, and Semones sings in both Japanese and English. It follows the title track, shared last month.

"Everyone in my band is such an incredible musician and I feel so lucky and grateful to play with them, and that's what this song is about," Semones said of the track. The video, directed by Jacob Rodier, shows her playing alongside bandmates Ransom McCafferty, Noah Leong, Claudius Agrippa and Noam Tanzer. "I wanted to capture what it's like to play music with them," she said.

Howl is Semones' first release for Verve/Interscope and lands January 15. Her debut album was Animaru. Pre-orders are open now; nothing else from the record has been announced.
