No-Neck Blues Band returns with new attention on 1996 album

No-Neck Blues Band is back in the spotlight. A September 8 Bandcamp Daily feature examines the group's early 1990s origins and points to its 1996 double CD 'Letters From The Earth.'

The band formed when Pat Murano, Keith Connolly, and Jason Meagher interned at Shimmy Disc in 1993. They played squalling psych indebted to Skullflower and The Dead C. A notorious set at Manhattan's Collective: Unconscious ended in onstage violence with War Hippies; Thurston Moore released the whole show on 7-inch in 1995.

In time they abandoned rock structures for free improvisation. 'Letters From The Earth' documents that shift. The feature encourages a deeper look at a release that predates their shift to fully unhinged noise.

No reissue or new recording is currently announced. What existed in 1996 remains the point of entry for their adventure in junk ritual.
