Strawberry Guy returns with second album Give Me A Dream

Strawberry Guy has released his second album, Give Me A Dream, via AWAL. The project is Alex Stephens, the Welsh songwriter behind 'Mrs. Magic', which went viral roughly five years before this record. It follows his debut album and arrives after a gap he has been open about.

For close to a year between records Stephens didn't write. "I'd come up with little things, but I felt like I couldn't write for a bit or write something out," he said of the period, which came as he left his job as a piano teacher, moved to the US and split his time between Liverpool and a bungalow in Los Angeles. He called this record a "hope-core" one, and said the pressure of a follow-up weighed on it: "I felt like anything that followed needed to be as good, if not better."

Give Me a Dream was recorded at Sonic Ranch, the residential studio complex in Texas, with Stephens writing and producing every part himself.
