Threadgill, Iyer, Prieto debut as a trio on 'Fifteen'

Henry Threadgill, Vijay Iyer, and Dafnis Prieto released their debut album as a trio on August 27. Titled Fifteen, it is their first recording together, marking fifteen years of playing as a unit.

The record spreads saxophone, piano, and drums, with Threadgill picking up flute too. Per Bandcamp Daily, the track "On the Way" draws on Prieto's Cuban background for a Latin rhythm, and "I Wanted a Map" plays as a nonstop, crescendoing rollercoaster.

Threadgill has spent recent years focusing on composing and conducting, so the album is a shift for him. Fifteen is available for pre-order on Bandcamp.
