Turnstile turned down a Metallica tour, Hetfield says
On his SiriusXM show, James Hetfield said Metallica wanted Turnstile on the road and got a no. He took it well.
BY JOLT Staff · Oct 31 2026 · 1 min readJames Hetfield says Metallica asked Turnstile to tour with them and Turnstile declined. Hetfield told the story on a recent episode of his SiriusXM show Riff Life: "We wanted to get them on tour, and they said no. They're doing good on their own already." He did not say when the ask happened.
There is no bad blood in the telling. Hetfield praised the band at length, saying they sound great on record but that the live show is where it lands, and that Metallica have hung out with them a bit. He also noted Turnstile have "a gal in the band now." The endorsement marks how far the Baltimore band has come from hardcore bills into stadium-size rooms.
What Metallica have lined up instead is a North American stadium tour in 2027 with Limp Bizkit in support. Turnstile's own touring plans are not part of this announcement, and no Metallica date with them is on the table.
