Young Jesus shares new song "The Devil" on Bandcamp

Young Jesus, the one-man project of John Rossiter, has shared a new song called "The Devil" on Bandcamp via Music Sounds Records and Saddle Creek. It's his first new music since 2014's 'The Fool' and the benefit EP 'John Case'.

Rossiter plays every instrument, singing in a multitracked falsetto yowl. He bought a violin from Gary Chen at Stein on Vine with money from scoring a documentary about Ferraris, brought it to Hen House Studios, and finished the instrumentals in a day. It was his first time playing violin since studying under Lora Zhizhin 25 years ago.

Rossiter calls the song a mythic country-rock freakout: "In the year since making the tune I've been running into the devil more and more. It's no exaggeration to say I felt possessed playing the guitar solo. I've never been able to play like that before or since."
