Aisha Vaughan: Water World keeps its cycle short
A six-track Leaving Records EP that turns rain into a 26-minute structure.

It runs 26 minutes, and the tracklist follows a weather pattern: 'Changing With You,' 'The Water,' 'Frozen,' 'Dark Forest,' 'Cascade,' 'Dreams In The Rain.' Water is the theme and the container.
The placement is the record's strength. 'The Water' (5:37) and 'Dreams In The Rain' (4:53) anchor either end, giving the quicker middle tracks a reason to exist. The EP never promises more than a short cycle. It makes a shape, hits it and leaves.
The flaw is scope. Six tracks and 26 minutes do not leave much room for deeper development, and the sub-four-minute cuts 'Dark Forest' and 'Cascade' can feel like sketches rather than destinations. That smallness is also the point. Water World is disciplined, tidy and confident in its limits. It does not pretend to be a bigger record.
