Christine and the Queens: one rendez-vous, two languages
The first taste of an unannounced album is a Moroder groove handed to New York jazz players, sung in French and then in English. The French one wins.
BY JOLT Staff · NOV 5 2026 · 1 min readChristine and the Queens returns with one song in two languages, and the French one is the reason to press play. "Rendez-vous avec toi" takes a Moroder groove and hands it to jazz players in New York while Chris circles a single idea: a meeting turned over since morning, and the person whose presence gives life its meaning.
The career has kept moving since Chaleur Humaine in 2014, through Chris in 2018 and PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE in 2023, and this year has already brought collaborations with Logic1000 and Thee Diane. The song is the first tease of an album due next spring, still unannounced, and it lands ahead of four sold-out December shows: Botanique in Brussels, Scala in London, Tolhuistuin in Amsterdam, Alhambra in Paris, each with a full band and unreleased songs in the set.
“In secrecy of frequencies, in genius musicians, in New York Jazz, in Moroder Groove, I kept on obsessing about this celebration”
The video was shot in Paris, co-directed by Chris with Raphaël De Albuquerque, choreography by Alexander Ekman. The record itself was made with jazz musicians in New York, and Chris calls it "the new interstellar traveling of Christine and the Queens".
The Moroder side sets the pulse; the jazz players fill in around it. Chris keeps the words plain and lets the title carry the weight, an appointment chewed over since the morning, and the song leans hard on the line about the meaning someone's presence gives to life. "Rendez-vous in your arms" is the same song, same 4:12 runtime, same backing, with the English words on top. The translation thins the hook. French suits the insistence; the English makes all that waiting sound polite.
For anyone who stayed with the 2023 record, this sits closer to it than to the early pop singles, and anyone who found that album too long will find this the right size. A 3.5: one strong half, one redundant one, and an album next spring that now has a bar to clear.
