Kishi Bashi and Tall Tall Trees get botanical on five-track EP
Five tracks, 22 minutes, and a tracklist that reads like a greenhouse manual. The collaboration keeps its experiment short and carefully shaped.

The track titles read like botany notes: 'Acclimation,' 'Plantichrist,' 'Respiration,' 'Translocation,' 'Nyctinasty.' That last word is plant movement, and the structure moves on the same schedule. Kishi Bashi and company front-load the space. 'Acclimation' runs 7:34, 'Respiration' runs 6:21, then two short cuts close in 2:26 and 2:24. The centerpiece is the odd single-word pun, and around it the collaborators leave room to breathe.
The flaw is the taper. After two extended pieces the record ends too quickly, two tight shorts that feel like appendices rather than conclusions. It is a useful experiment, cleanly sequenced, but it does not quite cash its runtime. Three and a half stars: real craft, modest payoff. You will feel the shape before you feel the mark.
