2nd Grade drop fourth album Girls and Boys

The power-pop four piece's new record runs Beach Boys harmonies across a full runtime, with Peter Gill and Catherine Dwyer out front.

2nd Grade released their fourth album, Girls and Boys, on November 4, 2026. A review published the same day calls it vintage-styled power pop, built on analog recording and retro reverbs and delays across Peter Gill and Catherine Dwyer's vocals.

The record takes the sweet-harmony end of the band and stretches it to album length, pulling The Beach Boys' "California Girls" out across the whole runtime. The song titles come back to the same word: "White Album Girls", "Slingerland Girls", "Anywhere Girls", "Motormall Girls" on one side, "Radio Boys", "Glacial Boys" and "Crash Test Boys" on the other.

Gill writes the songs and plays in the alt-country band Friendship; Girls and Boys adds Dwyer and Jack Washburn to the four-piece. Some lines land away from the sweetness: "I follow your circular logic wherever it goes," Gill sings, while Dwyer gets "now I know how Jesse James felt." No tour or follow-up dates are announced.
