Being Dead sign to Polyvinyl, share two new songs

Being Dead signed to Polyvinyl and released two new songs, "Man or Myth" and "Aquarium," on October 22. It is the Austin trio's first new music in two years, a single with videos for both tracks, directed by the band's own Falcon Bitch.

"Man or Myth" is an ode to Marc Ornstein, billed as a famed "interpretive freestyle" canoeist. "Aquarium" is, in the band's words, about "the taboo nature of falling in love in the workplace, which is especially scandalous if the workplace is an aquarium and your coworker is a dolphin."

John Congleton, who produced 2024's Eels, the band's sophomore LP, returned for both songs. The sign-off comes with typical scale: if they are not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame within two years, the band says they are throwing in the towel.
