Formal Sppeedwear drop debut album Punch Card

The Stoke On Trent trio's first full-length is out now on Melodic, and frontman Beck Clewlow is leaning hard on the Talking Heads comparison.

Formal Sppeedwear dropped their first album Punch Card on September 11 through Melodic. The UK trio, out of Stoke On Trent, craft angular neon post-punk that shares DNA with Talking Heads. Frontman is Beck Clewlow.

Chris DeVille, who authored the announcement, framed the argument like this: "I like Talking Heads. You like Talking Heads. You know who else likes Talking Heads? Formal Sppeedwear." He also pointed out that the songwriting and execution are first-rate. The album is the band's debut full-length, following earlier singles that had them marked as one to watch.

No tour dates have been announced. Punch Card is streaming now, though a Spotify embed cannot be displayed. Nothing else is confirmed.
