Joy Division assemble Eternal (Live), a fourteen-gig live collection

Joy Division will release Eternal (Live) on 21 September 2026, an official collection of live audio and video recordings. The set runs fourteen audio gigs and three video gigs in chronological order, and includes material that has not been out before.

Some of it is already familiar ground. Factory and New Millennium Communications put out two of these shows in the early aughts: Les Bains Douches in Paris on 18 December 1979, and Preston on 28 February 1980. The Birmingham gig, and a cover of 'Sister Ray', turned up on 1981's Still. Tony Wilson wrote the original CD inlays, which the announcement says fixed two Joy Division myths in place. The booklet carries liner notes from UK Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, and photographs from Kevin Cummins and Anton Corbijn.

The announcement lists the dates and the source tapes: gigs across Britain and Europe, two of them from Paris and Preston. The set documents history, not a tour.
