BY JOLT Staff · Oct 28 2026 · 1 min readKevin Morby released "Nursery Rhyme" on 28 October 2026, a new single featuring Lonnie Holley available only on Bandcamp. All proceeds go to Everytown for Gun Safety, and listeners can pay what they want. Morby recorded it in summer 2025 at Sam Cohen's studio, after he dropped into a session where Cohen was working with French band Petite-Vallée, who became the backing band. Cochemea Gastelum later added saxophone.
Morby said he had been hesitant to put it out since recording it. "It is far and away the darkest and most violent song I've ever written," he wrote, and added a trigger warning that the song contains themes of gun violence against children. He described Holley's contribution plainly: "Once the dust settles, Lonnie blesses the song with his wisdom and hope."
The release lands as the tenth anniversary of "Beautiful Strangers" approaches, another topical Morby song about gun violence in America. Nothing else on the single is announced beyond the Bandcamp page.
