Raincoats, Slits and X-Ray Spex members form supergroup for God Save the Queens

Gina Birch from the Raincoats, Hollie Cook of the Slits, plus Lora Logic and Paul Dean from X-Ray Spex will all perform together for a single night at Electric Brixton in London on October 16. This one-off supergroup appearance headlines God Save the Queens, a festival presented by the Up Yours! collective celebrating 50 years of feminist punk.

The bill extends beyond that four. Akiko Matsuura appears, as do Rhoda Dakar, Hot Wax, and Celeste Bell, daughter of Poly Styrene. Punk historian Vivien Goldman is also present, and her book is the thread she pulls through the evening. "This festival, and the incredible night we are putting together at Electric Brixton, is that book coming to life on stage," Goldman said.

The show arrives before a Museum of Youth Culture exhibit in Camden about the movement, and several performers on the bill gave archival material and artwork for it. Lora Logic described contributing unseen artwork and playing "these songs again" as a full circle.

Nothing past October 16 has been announced. The exhibit opens in Camden afterward.
