Sub Pop drops Maximum MN, eight covers for a Minnesota benefit
Eight Sub Pop acts cover Minnesota musicians, from Prince to the Replacements, with proceeds going to refugee and immigrant services in Minneapolis.

Eight songs, $8, proceeds to The International Institute of Minnesota, the non-profit supporting refugees and immigrants. The label made it in the wake of this year's ICE raids in Minneapolis.
The tracklist reaches wide: Shabazz Palaces take on Prince's "Pop Life", Downtown Boys run the Replacements' "Can't Hardly Wait", Sweeping Promises dig into Hüsker Dü's "Something I Learned Today". Elsewhere Yuno covers Hippo Campus' "The Way It Goes", Flock of Dimes covers Low's "Especially Me", Mudhoney covers Halo of Flies' "Rubber Room", Weird Nightmare covers Paul Westerberg's "It's a Wonderful Life", and Pissed Jeans close on Jesse "The Body" Ventura's "The Body Rules".
Sub Pop is based in Seattle, not Minneapolis. That distance is the point. The compilation is out now.
