Dazy return with Bad Penny, leaning into 2000s garage rock

Dazy released a new album, Bad Penny. The Richmond project led by James Goodson, also known from the punk band Teen Death, leans toward 2000s revival-era garage rock across the record, which opens with "Straight 2 You" and puts "Half Truth" near the end of the run.

Dusty Hayes reviewed the release on September 18, 2026. Hayes first caught Dazy opening for Snail Mail in 2023, and writes that whatever the wider revival is doing, "there is, however, no one doing it quite like Dazy."

The record is streaming, and listings put a physical drop in October 2025 (Apple's catalog dates it to October 21) while the review landed this September. No tour or follow-up releases are attached to the Bad Penny announcement.

"The future is now, and the future is Bad Penny," Hayes writes at the very end, which is either the best line in the piece or the worst. Goodson and Dazy can live with either.
