The record is his second with the Chrome Hearts and holds seven songs, five of them unreleased, tracked in analog at Shangri-La.
BY JOLT Staff · Sep 18 2026 · 1 min readNeil Young dropped Second Song on September 18, his 50th album and his second with the Chrome Hearts: drummer Anthony LeGerfo, bassist Corey McCormick, guitarist Micah Nelson, and Spooner Oldham on keyboards.
Seven of the songs are Young's. Five have never been out before; two, Casting Me Away From You and I'll Love You Forever, are unreleased versions that date back to the 1960s. He tracked the record in analog at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu with Lou Adler and The Volume Dealers, his own production duo with Niko Bolas.
Fifty albums have rarely looked this tidy on paper, which is the point. Next week he links up with Willie Nelson in Bridgeport and Philadelphia before this year's Farm Aid in Virginia Beach. Nothing else on the record is announced.
