Tony Iommi says he turned down a final original-lineup Black Sabbath album

Tony Iommi says he turned down a final Black Sabbath album with the original lineup. The guitarist said he and Ozzy Osbourne talked about recording again a few years ago, when Osbourne was first working with producer Andrew Watt. Iommi said no.

His reason was Watt. "He was very keen and a bit too excited," Iommi said. "He also didn't know what it was like working with the original Sabbath, working with Bill [Ward, drummer]."

Sabbath's last album was 2013's 13, produced by Rick Rubin. Ward refused to take part over a contractual dispute, and Brad Wilk played drums. The last record with all four original members was Never Say Die!, released in 1978.

Iommi is currently doing press for From The Dark, his first solo album in 21 years.
