Tupac Shakur murder: Keffe D convicted, sentencing set for October

A Las Vegas jury found Duane 'Keffe D' Davis guilty of organizing Tupac Shakur's killing on August 31. The decision followed less than three hours of jury discussion.

Davis, 63, an ex-leader of the South Side Compton Crips, got arrested in 2023, making him the initial individual charged in the shooting. He entered a not-guilty plea to a single murder charge involving a deadly weapon. Based on his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, plus earlier conversations, Davis acknowledged riding in the vehicle alongside the gunman yet insisted he never fired the weapon.

The case arose from a May 1996 attack on Trevon 'Tray' Lane, reportedly by Davis' nephew Orlando 'Baby Lane' Anderson, and Shakur's retaliatory shooting of Anderson following a boxing event at the MGM Grand on September 7. Shakur was hit in a drive-by later that evening and passed away on September 13, 1996.

Davis now confronts a maximum of life behind bars; the sentencing hearing is set for October 13.
