Tupac Shakur murder: Keffe D convicted, sentencing set for October

A Las Vegas jury found Duane 'Keffe D' Davis guilty of organizing Tupac Shakur's killing on August 31. Jurors deliberated for less than three hours.

Davis, 63, an ex-leader of the South Side Compton Crips, was arrested in 2023, making him the first person charged in the shooting. He pleaded not guilty to a single murder charge involving a deadly weapon. In his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, and in earlier conversations, Davis said he rode in the vehicle with the gunman but never fired the weapon.

The case grew out of a May 1996 attack on Trevon 'Tray' Lane, reportedly by Davis' nephew Orlando 'Baby Lane' Anderson, and Shakur's retaliatory shooting of Anderson after a boxing event at the MGM Grand on September 7. Shakur was hit in a drive-by later that evening and died on September 13, 1996.

Davis now faces a maximum of life behind bars; sentencing is set for October 13.
